Another way in which Dr. Guirguis helps expedite your recovery is his advanced technique of closing incisions. Dr. Guirguis uses a type of “Quill” suture, a dissolvable monofilament that is more expensive and takes a few minutes longer to apply but reduces the risk of negative skin reactions. As a result, less noticeable scarring results.
Complications arising from a procedure performed by Dr. Guirguis are very rare but in the unlikely event one does occur, you won’t have to be transported to a hospital where another surgeon will need to address the problem. Not only is our surgical facility fully equipped with all that is needed, Dr. Guirguis is trained to deal with any issues that may arise.
Dr. Guirguis has refined his surgical techniques so that every aspect of your surgery is designed in a way that will enable you to recover faster. For example, during your breast augmentation, Dr. Guirguis is careful to avoid any unnecessary trauma that could cause excess bleeding by performing precise dissection with direct visualization of all tissues in the target area. Trauma is reduced by keeping the amount of bleeding to a minimum, so you won’t have as an intense or lengthy recovery that is normally associated with less advanced techniques.
Dr. G use state of the art fibre optic lighting for optimal visualization during all procedures. Unlike some techniques where the breast implant pocket is created “blindly” without seeing the operative field, Dr. G is proactive and meticulous in identifying important anatomy such as blood vessels, leading to the safest operation possible. Dr. G’s technique also avoids the need for drains to collect post operative bleeding encountered with “blind” procedures.
Dr. Guirguis has resolved various complications that arise from surgeries and treatments performed by other doctors. As a result, he has a profound understanding of what not to do during surgery. The techniques he applies during your surgery are all designed to minimize and prevent the complications that he has seen during his 22 years of serving as a general surgeon.

Dr. Guirguis is very particular about what type of liposuction he performs. He strives to reduce your recovery rate with less invasive methods, which is why he applies a more advanced liposuction technique to get rid of your unwanted fat without traumatizing other vital structures such as blood vessels and nerves for a faster recovery.
During your breast augmentation, Dr. Guirguis is careful to avoid any unnecessary trauma that could cause excess bleeding by performing precise dissection with direct visualization of all tissues in the target area.
This “bloodless” technique means that you won’t have as an intense or lengthy recovery that is normally associated with less advanced techniques.
In addition, your scar will be shorter because Dr. Guirguis uses a special implant placement device. These reasons also contribute to a minimal risk of capsular contracture, which is under 1% (the industry average is 10%-20%).
Dr. Guirguis’ Natural Tuck is a unique form of abdominoplasty that involves a number of advanced techniques to allow for your optimal results to appear sooner.
During the surgery, Dr. Guirguis carefully repositions skin and tissues to your abdominal muscle wall for better stability of your results with a clean suturing technique that eliminates any space where excess fluid can collect. This is important because it dramatically reduces swelling and the risk of seroma (a complication of abdominoplasty), and makes the insertion of drains to eliminate excess fluid totally unnecessary.
In addition, your incisions will be dressed with “Seven Day Second Skin”, a type of bandage that allows you to take a shower the day after surgery, and you won’t have to change it until you visit Dr. Guirguis a week after your surgery! The bandage maintains a sterile environment in which your incisions can close properly, a healing process that is facilitated by the beneficial bacteria naturally present on your skin.
Lipomas are fatty and benign tumours that grow in the subcutanous space, located between the skin and the muscle. They are essentially lumps of fat that are wrapped in a fibrous covering.
Aside from discomfort, pain and a visible presence, there are typically no other symptoms. They do not pose severe health complications and the risk of developing into something dangerous (such as cancer) is very minimal.
Dr. Guirguis removes lipomas on the face or body, quickly and permanently. Most can be removed under local anesthesia. It’s a very safe and straightforward procedure. Many of our clients are shocked at how easy the entire process is, and they can even go back to work the same day they have their surgery. The process of removing lipomas takes 15 – 30 minutes. We always send it to a pathologist to further determine if it is problematic.
“ I was referred to Dr. Guirguis by way of rave reviews from a friend. From the moment I met Dr. Guirguis I felt comfortable and at ease. He was always kind and explained all procedures thoroughly. His staff goes above and beyond, making you feel part of a family. Extremely happy with my results and cannot thank the team enough for this amazing experience.”
They aren’t just cosmetic imperfections of your skin—The National Cancer Institute has outlined the “ABCD” criteria for assessing the risk of melanoma in a mole.
Lakeview Surgery Centre has a close association with a number of Royal College certified dermatologists who refer patients to us for surgical management of suspicious moles and biopsy-proven melanomas. While we highly recommend you first see your family physician or dermatologist if you notice any suspicious signs in a mole, many patients come to us first.
You do not need to see a dermatologist first before being referred to us.
Dr. Guirguis has removed many moles that were suspicious, as well as removed many that were purely for cosmetic reasons and at the patient’s direct request. If you have a mole that you are concerned about, whether for cosmetic or health reasons, it is important that you seek treatment sooner rather than later, as moles have the potential of becoming cancerous.
Your mole will most likely be able to be removed under local anesthesia, although more severe and larger moles may require general. The process of removing a non cancerous mole, takes anywhere from 15 – 30 minutes and there is little to no downtime. You can have the procedure and go right back to your life.
Cysts are fluid-filled growths that arise in the dermis, the deepest layer of the skin. While they’re rarely dangerous, cysts can be bothersome as they can grow and become red, irritated or even infected with time.
The most troublesome are those that are noticeably firm and visible, on the scalp, face or body. If you have one on your face, it may be particularly troublesome because of how it negatively affects your appearance.
If you find a cyst, do not try to squeeze or rupture it. Many patients have tried this before coming to see us, making the cyst worse. It also often leads to further irritation and infection which can make removal more complicated.
Dr. Guirguis can help you successfully remove a cyst, quickly and permanently. The procedure is a simple treatment that safely removes your cyst(s), which can then be sent for pathology examination to ensure that it is not a more dangerous growth.
Dr. Guirguis has treated a number of cysts, including those that are epidermal, epidermoid and pilar, as well as the most common, sebaceous.
Cyst removal is a very safe and straightforward procedure that can quickly get rid of a longstanding, unsightly or uncomfortable cysts. Like many of our patients, you will be impressed at how easy the entire process is and will have regretted waiting so long to have gotten it done!
Most can be removed under local anesthesia and commonly takes 15 – 30 minutes so there is little to no downtime. You can have the procedure done and go right back to your life.
