What is a Soft Face Lift?
Our faces are the one area where surgery can be difficult to conceal and heal. Many people desire the benefits of a face lift, but don’t want to deal with the recovery process. However, there is a better option to the traditional face lift, and it doesn’t involve surgery. Ever heard of a soft lift? This procedure is non-surgical, meaning no hospitalization, no large incisions and no downtime. This fast, low-pain procedure usually takes under an hour to perform and you will see results almost instantly! A soft lift is a non-surgical combination treatment of BOTOX® Cosmetic and Juvéderm® injectable filler. The procedure involves precisely targeted injections used to create a balanced and natural look that restores lost volume in the face, reduces lines and wrinkles and rejuvenates the face. Keep reading to find out more about this procedure and if it is right for you.
Juvederm vs. Botox for Soft face Lifts
A soft lift is a combination of injectable fillers used to sculpt the face. Juvederm is an injectable gel filler made up of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar already present in the human body. Hyaluronic acid has been found to be a key component in the health and hydration of skin. The production of this sugar in our bodies slows over time due to the combined effects of aging, pollution, and ultraviolet rays. Juvederm is an ideal filler as it restores the lost volume in the face and promotes the production of collagen which gives the skin its elasticity.
Botox is one of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatments with over 6 million Botox treatments administered every year. The word Botox is short for botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin derived from the organism Clostridium botulinum, which is found in the natural environment. Botox injections are used for a variety of purposes, including the treatment of medical conditions like migraines. As an injectable filler, botox prevents fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and eyes by paralyzing the underlying muscles.
Areas of Treatment for Soft Face Lifts
A soft lift is a great alternative to a surgical face lift because it focuses on the same areas and issues for a complete, natural looking facial rejuvenation with quick results. A soft face lift uses Juvederm and Botox injections in different areas of the face. Here are the areas treated in a soft face lift and the type of injection used in that area.
- Eyes & Forehead – Botox is used in the forehead and around the eyes to smooth wrinkles, crow’s feet and horizontal lines on the forehead to create a softened, youthful look.
- Nose & Cheeks – To fill in fine lines around the nose, restore volume in the mid face, and plump lips and cheeks, Juvederm is injected.
- Mouth & Jawline – Juvederm is used here too in order to contour the jawline and fill small lines around the mouth.
What is Recovery From a Soft Face Lift Like?
Since this procedure only takes around an hour to complete, requires no downtime, and has minimal side effects in comparison to a traditional face lift, you should have a simple, easy recovery. Like with all injections, you may experience some mild discomfort during the procedure. You also may have slight swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site depending on how sensitive your skin is. These are temporary side effects which should subside after a couple of days.
Optimal results will occur in the days and weeks following your treatment, although you will notice improvement instantly. After the procedure, you should be able to get back to normal right away and will be given detailed post treatment instructions to give you the best results. The most important part of a soft face lift procedure is finding a qualified, experienced surgeon. A professional surgeon will be able to sculpt the face using specifically targeted injections to give you a natural look.
