How Much Are Lip Injections & How Long do They Last?
Each person is different and the cost and length of time your fillers will last will depend on the type of look you want, the filler used and how much you are looking to spend. Think about the size and shape you are looking for and consider a consultation with Dr. Guirguis. A consultation will help answer any questions you have and allow you to feel comfortable and confident in your surgeon. Dr. Guirguis is a professional general surgeon who is experienced in cosmetic surgery and injectables.
Injectable fillers like Juvederm are used for lips and cheeks, cost around $600+ per syringe. Typically, the lips will require a full syringe depending on the size and shape desired. The Juvederm fillers break down over time, and your body and lifestyle will influence how long they will last. Often, Juvederm fillers last several months, and will require touch ups every 6 to 12 months.
What is The Best Lip Filler?
The best type of filler for you should be decided with your surgeon as there are many to choose from, both permanent and reversible. Most commonly used for lip contouring is a hyaluronic-acid-based, reversible filler called Juvéderm®. The hyaluronic-acid-based fillers can dissolve with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that removes hyaluronic acid from your body quickly and safely. Juvederm will provide a pillowy, plump and youthful look that is great for those looking to increase volume and contour the lips.
Are lip injections painful?
Many people wonder if lip injections are painful or cause bruising or other symptoms. Again, this will depend on your body, but bruising, swelling and slight bleeding, redness or tenderness at the injection site can occur. These symptoms and side effects are mild and swelling will only last one day, but the lips will need 3 to 5 days to fully settle. Other risks should be discussed with your surgeon so you are prepared and ready to make the decision to get fillers. Injectables use very small, fine needles and are usually pain free.
What do I Need to do After my Injections?
- Apply Ice – Ice the area after the treatment to minimize bruising.
- Stay Hydrated
- Eat Healthy – Avoid lots of alcohol and eat fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Sleep Elevated – Keep upright a few hours after.
- Keep Lips Hydrated – Apply Chapstick or Vaseline after the swelling has gone down.
- Don’t Exercise Heavily
- Avoid Hot Temperatures – 24-48 hours after treatment.
- Don’t Massage Lips Right Away – Usually, a hyaluronic acid filler like Juvederm can be massaged 2-7 days after treatment.
- Don’t Kiss – It may be advised to avoid heavy kissing until the filler settles and swelling is gone.
- Avoid taking Advil, Vitamin E, Ginger, Ginko, Bilboa, Ginseng, and Garlic for 2 weeks after the procedure since this may increase the risk of bruising.
